Understanding the Ranking Points Contingent in the RTA Pickleball Tour

In the RTA Pickleball Tour, players can participate in all tournaments, but they can only collect ranking points from tournaments worth up to 6000 ranking points in total during the season. This means players must strategize which tournaments to focus on for their best results. Here’s how it works:

Player Example: Emma's Season

Emma decides to play in all 8 RTA tournaments during the season. Here’s how her ranking points are calculated:

1. Tournament Results:
– 2000 Category Tournaments:
– First 2000 tournament: Emma wins (2000 points)
– Second 2000 tournament: Emma reaches the semifinals (1300 points)

– 1000 Category Tournaments:
– First 1000 tournament: Emma wins (1000 points)
– Second 1000 tournament: Emma finishes fourth (400 points)
– Third 1000 tournament: Emma reaches the quarterfinals (200 points)
– Fourth 1000 tournament: Emma doesn’t get into the best 17 (0 points)

– 500 Category Tournaments:
– First 500 tournament: Emma wins (500 points)
– Second 500 tournament: Emma finishes third (250 points)

2. Ranking Points Total:
Emma’s results give her a total of 5900 points (2000 + 1300 + 1000 + 400 + 200 + 0 + 500 + 250).

3. Applying the 6000 Tournament Point Contingent:
Since only points from tournaments worth a max of 6000 points can count toward her ranking:
– Her best results are used first to reach the maximum.
– Points from her lowest-scoring tournaments are excluded, based on a max total of 6000 tournament points.

Final Counted Points:

– 2000 (2000 cat tournament)
– 1300 (2000 cat tournament)
– 1000 (1000 cat tournament)
– 500 (500 cat tournament)
– 250 (500 cat tournament

Total: 6000 tournament ranking points

Emma earns 5050 ranking points

Key Takeaways for Players

  • You can play as many tournaments as you want, but only points from your best-performing tournaments will count toward the maximum, taking a max of 6000 tournament points into consideration.
  • Prioritize performing well in higher category tournaments (2000 or 1000) as these yield more points.
  • Strategize your tournament participation to maximize your chances of reaching the RTA Finals – Arlberg Pickleball Championship!

How to get invited to the RTA Finals (Arlberg Pickleball Championship)

  • RTA Finals will play the following divisions:
    • Women’s Doubles – 8 teams
    • Men’s Doubles – 8 teams
    • Mixed Doubles – 8 teams
    • Women’s Singles – 8 players
    • Men’s Singles – 8 players
  • In Doubles (Women’s, Men’s and Mixed) divisions the top 8 players will be invited and asked to select a team partner, starting with #1.
    • In case the team partner is also ranked within the top 8, the next in line will be invited and asked to select a team partner.
    • Team partner must be ranked within the top #30 in the division.
    • Team partner must have played the 5.0+ division in at least three RTA tournaments in the tour year. Registration with no-show does not count.
  • In Women’s and Men’s Singles the top 8 will be invited, followed by the next in line if one passes.
  • Anyone might be invited to play all three divisions.
  • Invitation for any division can be declined, even when other division invitations are accepted.
  • You will personally be informed about your invitation once the RTA ranking is final.
  • Any player with an European nationality can qualify for the Arlberg Pickleball Championships.
  • Any player of any nationality, with a continuous residence of more than 12 months in an European country on December 19th (start day of the tournament), 2025, can qualify for the Arlberg Pickleball Championships.

Additional Information

Points earned by players that are not qualified for the Road to Arlberg (e.g. US players), will be split and added to the qualified players. As a result the tournament will always hand out the same total points.

Only players with more than zero points are being listed in the rankings.

In case a player has to cancel the RTA Finals participation between the accepted invitation and the finals event due to personal reasons, injuries, etc. a substitute player might be selected. The player shall be selected out of the pool of the other invited players who do not yet play the division. If none is available any other player according to general rules (see above) may be appointed.
