Clearer Structure, More Opportunities, Higher Stakes
With the continued growth of the RTA Pickleball Tour, structure matters more than ever. For the 2026 season, we are proud to release the updated RTA Competition Regulations v2026.03 alongside, for the very first time, a dedicated regulation set for the RTA Finals: RTA Competition Regulations – RTA Finals v2026.01.
These updates are not cosmetic. They reflect a tour that is scaling internationally, offering more tournaments, more ranking opportunities, clearer entry rules, higher media standards and, yes, significantly more prize money.
What’s New on the RTA Pickleball Tour in 2026
More Tournaments, More Ranking Depth
The 2026 calendar expands the tour with more RTA events across Europe, creating additional chances to compete and earn points. A key improvement is that ranking points are now awarded down to placements 17–24, rewarding deeper runs and season-long consistency instead of only podium finishes.
Adjusted Draw Sizes at RTA1000 Events
To ensure competitive balance and smooth scheduling at venues with limited court capacity, RTA1000 tournaments now feature slightly reduced draw sizes in:
- Women’s Singles (WS)
- Men’s Singles (MS)
- Women’s Doubles (WD)
- Men’s Doubles (MD)
This allows for higher match quality, better player experience and reliable timelines.
Open Tour: No Longer Europe-Only
The RTA Pickleball Tour is now fully open to international players. Participation is no longer limited to European athletes, strengthening competition and raising the level across all divisions.
Higher Qualification Ceiling: Up to 8,500 Points
For qualification toward the RTA Finals, players can now accumulate results worth up to 8,500 tournament points, a major step up from last year’s 6,000-point limit. This change rewards sustained excellence across the season rather than a handful of peak results.
Clear Entry Policy for Pro Events
A new Entry Policy for RTA1000 and RTA2000 tournaments brings clarity and fairness:
- Up to 6 weeks before the event, entries are handled according to RTA ranking criteria
- After the 6-week cut-off, remaining spots are allocated on a First Come, First Served basis
For RTA500 tournaments, entries are First Come, First Served from the start.
Updated Refund Policy
The refund system has been refined
Prize Money Increase: Raising the Bar
One of the most exciting changes for 2026 is the significant increase in minimum prize money across all pro categories:
- RTA500: minimum €3,000
- RTA1000: minimum €6,000
- RTA2000: minimum €9,000
These are guaranteed minimums, with venues able to increase prize pools further through local sponsorship. Combined with more tournaments and deeper point distribution, this makes the 2026 season an absolute blast for competitive players.
Pro Tour Meets Grassroots: Clinics & Amateur Tournaments
In 2026, every RTA Pro Tour stop includes Pickleball Clinics and an Amateur Tournament.
At smaller venues, Amateur events may take place 1–2 weeks before the Pro tournament, with a special highlight:
winning players or teams can earn a Wildcard into the Pro event.
This strengthens the pathway from amateur to pro and brings the RTA Tour closer to local pickleball communities.
Media & Production: A New Standard
Professional coverage continues to level up:
- Catie from @CatieWorks will accompany all RTA1000 and RTA2000 tournaments, and selected RTA500 events
- All RTA2000 tournaments, as well as the Arlberg Pickleball Championship, will feature a professional live stream
- Production by PickleB, with commentary by Nick Hobbis
- Streams will be available on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@RTAPickleballTour
New in 2026: Dedicated Regulations for the RTA Finals
For the first time, the RTA Finals are governed by their own standalone regulation document.
The RTA Competition Regulations – RTA Finals v2026.01 clearly define:
- How players qualify for an invitation
- Ranking logic and tiebreakers
- Seeding procedures
- Substitute player rules
- Points allocation at the Finals
This removes ambiguity and ensures full transparency for Europe’s most prestigious pickleball event.
A Tour That Has Grown Up
With these updates, the RTA Pickleball Tour enters 2026 more structured, more international, and more rewarding than ever before. Higher prize money, clearer rules, expanded media coverage and a stronger connection between amateur and pro pickleball set the stage for the biggest RTA season yet.
We encourage all players to read the full regulations carefully and get ready for a season that raises the bar once again.
See you on court.
